| HOUSE PARENTS |  House Parents invest themselves in caring for Resident Children in their home using the Oak Ranch Child Care Program. They work to create a healing environment, centered in Christ's love, in which the spiritual, emotional, social, academic, and physical development needs and goals of each child in the home are met. They maintain their home and surrounding property to Ranch standards, and the House Dad contributes nine (9) hours each week to the growth and care of the Ranch while the children are not in his direct care. House Parent Qualifications - Must be a married couple, married at least two years
- Both must be at least 25
- Must demonstrate a “healthy” marriage and the ability to continue to grow together
- Oak Ranch can not accommodate, by license, more than two (2) of their own children living on the Ranch in their home
- Demonstrated longevity in a job
- Must have “staying power” demonstrated by longevity in a job
- Faithful, have a servant's heart, and agree with the Oak Ranch Statement of Faith
- Must have a passionate love for children…especially at-risk children
- Both "called" to this ministry
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions - Oak Ranch is currently only operating boy’s homes.
- Each home will have up to seven (7) children, ranging in ages from 6 to 16 years of age.
- House parents have private quarters within the home: master bedroom suite, small study, living room, second bedroom and bath suite
- Oak Ranch runs on a two-week cycle during which the House Parents receive three (3) Relief Nights, typically 4-6 hours off.
- House Parent’s ranch responsibilities end when the boys go home every other weekend on Friday night at 5:00pm and resume when they return Sunday at 7:00pm.
- Holidays and vacations are taken when children are away and there are no required training events or scheduled activities at the Ranch (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and Summer Break)
Current Openings Available: NONE | | DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING |  Position Overview: Envision, implement, train, and support Oak Ranch's Child Care Program and Counseling Services for each child and their family as the child moves through the therapeutic process: intake/admissions; individual, group, and family counseling; discharge; and aftercare. Throughout the process, the Counselor is instrumental in crisis intervention, mediation, prevention, and development. Counselor works with a child and his family in an effort to establish a healthy home environment leading to eventual reunification. Direct-care staff training and support is critical. Salary, 403B Retirement Plan, Blue Cross Blue Shield Employer provided Health Insurance, Disability Insurance, all training expenses and required medical examination expenses paid for, vacation time. Responsibilities: Establishes qualifications for children and parents who are accepted into the Oak Ranch program, and guidelines for the Child Care Team to follow to ensure compliance with the Mission Statement. Ensures an integrated therapy program is developed for each Oak Ranch child and family. Ensures the individual and family therapy programs are implemented in accordance with the devised plan. Trains House Parents and other staff to be equipped for their role in the therapeutic process. Develops Ranch policies and procedures on discipline and behavior management. Administers an outcome measurement system that collects, analyzes, reports and evaluates data on the effectiveness of all therapeutic programs. - Mature Christian who is involved in a church and strives to maintain a close, daily walk with God
- Highly approachable
Education and Experience: - Master's degree in a relevant counseling field
- 5 years mental health experience in a residential treatment facility in counseling children, adolescents, older teens, and their families
- Experience in continual training of others
- Ability to manage the stressors and conflicts of staff and children inherent in a residential environment
- Ability to relate to a wide range of individuals from diverse social, economic, emotional, and spiritual backgrounds
- Ability to share one's faith and integrate it into one's professional duties
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
- Proficient use of internet, cell phone, and computer-based technology
- Strong verbal, written, and public speaking skills
- Able to adjust to sudden changes in schedule
- Willing to work split schedules of morning and evenings on occasion to accommodate counseling with children and/or their families
- Willingness to participate in non-counseling related activities with the boys
- Able to provide emotional support for House Parents
